Privacy Policy

The short version: the FilesMac app collects nothing and never sends your files anywhere. The one time it goes online on its own is to check your licence key with Polar when you activate it. This website doesn't track you. When you buy, Polar handles the payment and sees what any shop would. If you email us, we use your email to reply.

The FilesMac app

• FilesMac has no accounts, analytics, telemetry, advertising or crash reporting.
• The app has no code that sends your files, their names or their contents anywhere. Your files are read on your Mac when you open them, and change only when you save, rename, move or trash them.
• Licence activation is the only time FilesMac goes online on its own account. When you enter a licence key and press Activate (or Deactivate), FilesMac sends the key, the app version and your Mac's model identifier (such as "Mac14,2") toPolar, so the key can be checked and you can see your Macs in its customer portal. It never checks again after that, never checks for updates, and never contacts any other server of ours.
• The 7-day trial is counted on your Mac, from a date stored in ~/.filesmac.licence.json. Nothing is sent for it.
• Otherwise the app only uses the network on your behalf: when you connect to a server with Connect to Server, or preview an HTML file that loads images or scripts from the web.
• Your settings, favourites, bookmarks and licence are stored in files in your home folder (~/.filesmac.*.json) and nowhere else.
• Full Disk Access is optional. If you grant it, it lets FilesMac show you protected folders on your own Mac. It does not give anyone else access to anything.

This website

• No cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party scripts.
• If you switch between light and dark, your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
• Like any website, our hosting provider's servers receive standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages, and may keep it briefly in server logs for security and reliability. We don't use these logs to identify or profile you.

Buying FilesMac

Polar sells FilesMac as the merchant of record. That means they take your payment, calculate and collect sales tax or VAT, send your receipt and handle refunds. They collect what's needed for that, such as your name, email address, billing country and payment details, under their own privacy policy.

We receive your name, email address and order details so we can deliver FilesMac, help you and process refunds. We never see your full card number. We don't send marketing email unless you've clearly opted in, and we never sell or share your information.

Emailing us

If you write to chethan.2106@gmail.com, we use your message and email address to reply, and keep the conversation only as long as it's useful for helping you.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailingchethan.2106@gmail.com. Records that we're legally required to keep, such as tax records of a sale, may have to stay for the period the law requires.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change affects how the app handles data, we'll say so in the release notes too.
